Shouldn't feed dog/cat food to chickens

Anytime I have a chicken in the house (so all the time) and am eating chicken pot pie, i give them most of the chicken out of it. I dont like white meat so I give it to them lol.....Are we talking about any kind of chicken that we actually eat or like chicken brains and organs and stuff??

A lot of horse grain have animal by products in them. Expecially the "cheap" kinds. I choose to feed just oats.

I read and reread the thread, is there an outbreak or even a concern about chickens eating chicken by products or is this just a worry. My birds get all kinds of table scraps, which include left over chicken and eggs.
Before I change anything I'd like to hear from a vet, because honestly why even worry about it if there is nothing out saying it's detrimental. Think about them out in the wild the way God intended, chickens are known for their cannibalism. I personally am not to worried about it.

This is a case of adding 2+2 and getting 9. BSE is a disease of cattle [hence the B for Bovine]. As far as I know there is no C[hicken]SE.

Won't chickens eat anything in front of them ? Mine eat dry cat food occasionally, but they will also eat Goat chow, and bread, and spaghetti. If I notice a difference in their behavior or funny looking poop, I stop it.
What's the big deal ?

The argument over whether to feed chickens chicken meat, or ruminant meat, or either, pretty much revolves around how important you think it is to take precautionary measures to avoid the possibility altogether.

I would worry about the quality of ingredients, not the fact that it says CAT or DOG FOOD on the label.

My ducks LOVE the occasional handful of Blue Buffalo Wilderness high-protein, low carb cat food.

I have given a handful of dry cat food
once a week and have no problems they love it
also a bit of red pepper flakes . it gives them the boost they need in the cold months.one of my ladies is now sitting on 13 eggs and
another is sitting on 7..
