Hi,

So we have our 12 laying pullets and kids are loving having chickens. We are going to add a couple more chicks to the flock, more for "showing" purposes than laying. My daughter wants to show locally. Are there any breeds that are more unusual that might give an advantage at shows for being rarer (less birds in class/less competition?) Also a breed that is not too high strung, since will be for 11 year old.
any suggestions???

Thanks!!!

Jenn,
You should really consider a Wyandotte, bantam or Standard either way. They are easily handled, very few are shown especially in Jr. classes. and if the kids loose interest they are a good long term layer.
