I have a Black Copper Marans rooster I'm going to breed to my Bielefelder hens. I hope the chicks look like that!Replying to my own old thread here in case anyone else is looking for pictures of mixes. These are two chicks hatched later in 2021 from black copper marans eggs and the same bielefelder rooster. (Their hatch mom is a bielefelder too, but she isn't the biological mom.) I got a pullet and a cockerel, who had different looking barring at 5-6 weeks. I still have the hen, Lena, and she lays pretty brown eggs with a coppery tint that are darker than most brown layers but way lighter than marans eggs.View attachment 3475678View attachment 3475679View attachment 3475677View attachment 3475676

Awesome looking birds!I’m thinking they’ll be all black with some coppery highlights? Please post pics when they hatch.
I’m going to try Biel over Blue Copper Marans to see what the egg color (and pullets) will look like. My Biel rooster has a lot of gold so maybe I’ll get like a Crele blue or black.
These little surprises hatched just last night. Biel rooster over common EE- the broody is my blue copper Marans who volunteered to be mom. First time ever and 3/3
Last pic is Karen, my EE egg donor. Rooster is a big ole softy but sure looks tough in a wind gust![]()
thank youAwesome looking birds!
All those barred birds make me feel as if I’m staring at a crazy eyed poster- mesmerizing!!I have crossed my Beilefelder roo with my Chanticler hens, Barred Rocks and Dominic. I have attached the following photos:
1. Mr Beilefelder He is 14 months old
2. All the chicks. 7 crosses, 4 look like Barred Rocks, 2 look like Chanticlers and the 7th one has me stumped
3.Two of the Barred Rocks and one of the Chanticlers.
4. The "mystery cross" bird. I suspect it is Dominic offspring
