Show me your cats!

I’m curious to see if anybody has had to train their cat to be nice to chickens, or anyone has a cat who was good from day one. Tell me your stories, and show off you’re kitties!

Here’s my cat, Puppie.

He’s 2 years old and great with the the chickens. He has white cute paws that look like socks and mittens, is the chillest cat ever, and I’m so grateful to have him. We actually also had his sister, who was gray, but still had those same paws. She passed away after she went into the neighbors yard and their dog killed her. Her name was Diddle. I’m so glad we still have Puppie with us.

Meet Shithead. Theo for short.
He’s 16 lbs and has ignored all the chickens and chicks. He does, however, think roosters are evil. He dove onto my RIR roo once a week religiously. Don’t think he was out for blood..... more of the ‘I am king stuff around here.’ It’d terrify the roo for 4-5 days till he got cocky again, then Theo would take him down a notch.

Here’s my cat Jack. He was rescued by a veterinarian when he was left by his mom in a barn and was feral. He was in CL ad saying he was mean and couldn’t find a home for Christmas. I called and they told me that he hates everyone but I could try to sweet talk him. They said he kept biting and scratching people no matter who it was. He was neutered by the vet and up to date on all his shots.

I went to the vet, opened his cage, and sat on the floor. In a heartbeat he climbed in my lap and purred so loud the receptionist could hear him. The vet walked out and said “I guess you have yourself a free cat for Christmas!”


He hasn’t stopped purring since and he’s my buddy. He comes when I say his name, he can do high fives, he loves chicken, and he loves snuggling with me.

My dogs consider him one of their pack and they love wrestling him.

This is Catherine Anne. I lovingly call her "Dirty Face" to tick her off! She has a pretty cool identifying lighting bolt pattern that runs down her back. She's about 5 years old. My son rescued her & brought her to me as a tiny kitten infested with fleas. She's now fat and happy. She's got a attitude problem and only likes to be petted on the top of her head and not picked up or she will tear into you like a wild maniac. In her defense she probably has PTS from a coyote attack she managed to survive a few years ago. I'm pretty sure she used up at least 8 lives on that one! She great at ratting, killing snakes and keeping the rabbit population in check.

I have to include all three of my cats.
I only have one left now.
Artemis, the cat with the scary eyes, was a stray we took in. He disappeared a year after he came.
Lydia, the tabby. She was my favourite cat ever. She passed a year ago.
Sydney. Lydia's brother. He is still going strong, at 11 years old.
He definitely needs to use a toothbrush.
