Show me your EGG BASKETS please

Ok, finally... after photobucket messed up, the camera messed up, then BYC locked up....

not great pics (after all that

) but this is my egg basket. I got it on ebay - had to have it cause I loved the shape and look of it.

it is coated wire, and it holds a LOT of eggs (never had it full yet

) it is 11 inch diameter (at widest point) and 14 inches tall (including handle).

I used the same thing as TaLani, until I lost mine. Now I just use what ever I bring my kitchen slopes out in.

Mojo Chick'n, that's a great basket! I love the shape too, and let's all hope you get enough eggs to fill it!

TaLani and newbird - that IS a redneck egg basket and I'm proud to know you both!

Well, I've been through several basket styles & types over the last year.

Had the metal bucket... accidentally broke a few eggs rolling around inside of it and once by dropping the egg after not grabbing it firmly enough

Had the plastic bucket with handle, a Halloween relic, broke the handle eventually and down went a bucket of eggs

I like the wire baskets but the openings seem a bit small AND I really really don't like stacking any eggs

I even used a dishwasher silverware basket for a while, which I liked that I could seperate the eggs by pen in it, but I just don't like stacking eggs

So.. this is what I use now... SO handy for me it's just perfect.
It's a vegetable/harvesting type basket with an egg flat pressed inside.

I found the basket at a yardsale for $.50 and well.. I have lots of egg flats already.

They haven't been laying well for awhile now, and they were laying all over the yard cause of a snake (that I found and dealt with, but they still didn't want to lay in the boxes). So, they finally laid where and when they were supposed to, and I couldn't use the eggs

I probably paid too much for that basket, but I simply HAD to have it

it was perfect. (I think with shipping I paid something like 25 bucks for the thing).

I have accidently cracked an egg or two before by being in a hurry and hitting the rim, or dropping them and hitting another egg. But it isnt nearly as bad as putting them in my pockets and forgetting about them - then smashing them in my pockets!!

(been there, done that)

I have never broken an egg in my pockets... just lucky I guess...
My daughter however... coming up the front porch steps once, fell forward and CRACK... egg everywhere!

LOL

All I could say then was.. "Thank GOD that wasn't your teeth!!!!"

I like the basket because it's easy to label them.. and when I place them, hatching eggs go upside down just to make sure that we don't eat any of the hatching eggs.. just an extra precaution.
