The basket sits on the counter next to the back door so it's easily accessible, but it also looks nice. I have an 18-egg carton in it (wishful thinking), but the most eggs I've gathered at one time is 8. Maybe someday my 23 girls will be laying 18 eggs in a day?

My hubby got these for me on ebay. My son likes to use the one that looks like a chicken. It cracks him up every time.

Here's mine. Small miracle that DBF found it at a garage sale - for cheap. They are a pretty penny on ebay.

Although I have to admit, I'm partial to putting eggs in my pocket.

I bought this real egg basket about 10 years ago when I had no notion of chickens in my yard. It was just so cute.
Now, it's actually a practical basket for me, since I get 2 eggs /day.

We have 14 girls, so I leave a stack of old egg cartons on top of the nest boxes. When my 'inside' egg cartons get a little dirty, they are retired to 'coop' cartons. When the 'coop' cartons get even more dirty, or an egg gets broken in them, I pitch them.
