Show me your quail pens!!!

Pics
JJ - about what are the measurements on the individual partitions in the condo? How many birds are in each one?

The One Pictured Is A Combination Unit Front Side Has 8 2x2 Honeymoon Suites For Housing Bob White Breeding Pairs, The Back Has 4 2x4 Units For Brooding/ Low Number Grow Out Pens. It Can Be Configured For 1/2 And 1/2, Or All Of 1 And None Of Another... I Have All 3 Versions. Its Accomplished By Adding Or Removing Dividers When You Build

Thanks! I thought that's about what they looked like. I figured I could build something similar to that eventually.

Figured my roosters might like it. They are mostly in wire bottom cages now. I really don't like keeping birds on wire.

JJ, that's the lilly pond.

I showed your quail condo to hubby (I know you sent me that pic before but just could not find it) and he just smacked me on the back of the head and said he was trying to dislodge all the fuzz in my head.

I guess that means "NO!!!"

My Quail pen was our old rabbit hutch.

I'll get better pictures tomorrow. I have the pen located between the Wood shed and the smaller workshop. The cage is blocked in on 2 sides by the buildings, I have tarp over the top now to help keep them warmer. If it gets cold again, I will bring them inside.....

I went out for my last egg collection run and found six soaking wet and shivering Coturnix!

I promptly moved them indoors to the wooden Rabbit Hutch.

Never mind the red lighting, the only heat lamp I have right now is the red low-powered light from the brooder.....

I think it's where the pen is sitting. In light wind/rain, it does fine, no wet birds.

But, since we've got 60MPH wind and heavy rain, I think the pen is in a bad spot.

Normally they have a corner that is dry, and won't get wet. Not this time.

I'm glad I went out when I did, or I may not have had live Quail in the morning.

They are fluttering about the pen now, so I think we are in the safe zone.
