Show me your quail pens!!!

Small cages are not good for quail.
The one foot square area per bird is also to small.
Quail need room and some of these houses are way to small they dont have much space.
I think that is pretty poor reasoning.

I see no reason to have excessively oversized cages, as it's a waste of space-- in both height and floor space.

When one square foot of cage space is required per one chicken- surely two quail a tenth the size- will fit into the same space with comfort.

I suppose it hinges on your beliefs, and thoughts- but in such production for meat and personal consumption of a product geared for that goal (conturnix quail)-- we should be max'ing output by min'ing input.

waste of space not stacking them on top of each other. Such small birds need small space.

I don't like bending over to do chores either.

I'm about to abandon my quail cube- these little buggers drink too much- and I have to fill the quart sized waterers every other day, and I prefer to use gallon sized ones, which are too tall to fit in the cube.

Just a thought to toss around
good looking cages

I would agree that 1 sq ft is fine for coturnix. I and countless others have raised too many healthy birds at this ratio. It's just been proven too many times to work well. To make such a blanket statement, it seems someone is either trolling or just has not tried it. In a grow out pen, the 1 sq ft rule can be cut in half with good results. Been there done that, time after time.... However I don't feel 1 sq ft for a adult chicken will work for long.... Buts that's another thread!

We are a bit bigger scaled then some of have seen but this one is from inside my pen. and the other is inside my brooder.

I was referring to the fact that quail in small cages get little room for exercise especially in one foot square cages.
It dont matter if they are for food or that.
Its just not nice.

Is this to small for 4-5 quail???

I actually had kept 5 coturnix quail in this, they really enjoyed being on the grass. Until the night racoons attacked them, reached right through the bars and killed ALL of them. Ripped their heads right off. It was awful. So no, don't use this one.
