My new silkie coop is going to be fixed up and cleaned up a bit, and maybe a few modifictations for them, but since we got the mansion for free, I don't mind!!!

Hi, Here is coop number two...we call it the Bantam Bungalow. We have Silkies, Cochin Frizzles and Silkies in this one, along with two little Seabrights. The coop is 6' x 10' and 7' high walls. Lots of features to make life esay incorporated into its design. For more photos, check out my page.

in my opinion silkies dont need different housing i breed silkies and showgirls that why i seperate mine from the rest. but otherwise i do have silkies in our other coop which has over 25 different breeds inluding bantams, standards, and a peacock, guinea hen. mine dont roost but the sleep in the nesting boxes which are about 1.5-2 feet off ground. only one hen roosts with the others. they go up ramps too and jump into a tree we have in the coop.

the Dh does it!! He uses a large metal commercial dust pan and a tank vacuum (just for the chickens)works great for me I never have to do it. But we are using it as a silkie brooder we love it. Since we moved to 5 acres we have built coops with runs for all of the cuties

A coop for each color I love them..One thing the linoleum is worth every penny in a coop when cleaning.

I live in Florida and Silkies are prone to heat, so if I need to lock up early, they still have access to a breeze.
