Show off your babies for 2020

Hi. New to the baby hatching thing. I let my Muscovy and Pekin start a nest last weekend and the girls take turns sitting on the nest (not round the clock, tho). Do they stop laying when they are ready to sit full time? How will I know when they go "broody". I tried to candle one of the early eggs, but not sure I am seeing anything yet. yolk and egg sac. what is a "normal" % rate to expect? the Muscovy drake loves his one hen, got the pekin at least once. sorry for the silly questions

Muscovy eggs take 35 days Other domestics like your Pekin take 28 give or take a day or 2 on both.
Yes they will stop laying once they have the number they are happy with. Then you'll see them sitting round the clock except to come out all hunched up ready to kick butt and eat bathe and do that nasty broody poop. Once they begin sitting full time give it at least 5-7 days before candling.

thanks - very helpful!

And unless you want a whole mess of ducklings you can also take any old dirty eggs out once they begin sitting because until they fully commit there isn't any thing in there growing and that even takes time. I do this or I'd have a gazillion Muscovy running around here.

Last pictures of the new duck house before the poop arrives.
