This is Debbie and April. Debbie is the tri-colored one, and April is the brown and white. Is there a technical name for either of these colors? Can you tell what variety they are?

They are young, Debbie is about 6 months old, and April is about 4 months.

Show me those cavvies!!

Eep! My third favorite animal, next to chickens and dogs! I used to have 41, all named and separated by sex into their own fortified and movable runs, but I'm down to a much more reasonable number now. I just have the two, and they're spoiled silly by huge runs both indoors and out.

My favorite variety is the white crested, and my next fave is the abyssinian, but I usually only see the smooth ones around here. They're all adorable.

The lady I got these two from had a pure black the last time she had any for sale. I so wanted that one, but it was a boy

I don't need or want more guinea pigs, and having girls and a boy would be too tempting!! But the black ones are so pretty! They are just the cutest little critters, I just love Debbie's little piggy 'butt cheeks'

You can kind of see them in one of my pics

We used to raise alot of Guinea Pigs and Patagonian Cavies. They are alot of fun to raise and such sweet pets. I don't have any photos of them on this computer- but I do have these from when I was in Peru last year.

They just run around on the floor in the house.

This is a Guinea Pig ladder, where they place ones that are to be used for eating.

We ate guinea pig while there, it was very chewy and not much meat. I have photos, but didn't want to offend anyone by posting photos of the guinea pig on a plate.

I do love their little noises! Debbie and April have a plastic fort inside their pen for shelter right now. When we first got April (who was maybe 1 month old) we had cardboard around the outside bottom of the cage to keep her in. Debbie would sit on top of their little fort (how she got up there is still a mystery!) and make the little squeeks and such....So cute! Now about the only time I hear anything is when their food dish is empty and/or they have eaten all their grass. They're going to hate it when winter comes and they have to be on shavings

But their summer on the yard has fattened them up, so they should be plenty warm enough!
