Show Off Your Coops!

Heres the inside of mine. I dont have a finished picture of the inside. Every time I go out there to take one I get distracted by the chickens šŸ˜‚

I've also added poop boards underneath the roost. And nesting boxes on both sides.

My wife and kids came home with 6 baby chicks and told me I needed to build or buy a chicken coop. After researching the pre-built coops I decided to attempt to build one. Having never built anything, I did not have a lot of faith that it would come out very good. Thanks to this site I was able to finish the coop, and hope the chickens will be happy. Since I am a software guy, I had to make it a smart coop. It has automation to calculate the sunrise/sunset to get the length of the day to generate an offset to turn the light on early to get the 15 hours. The light comes on gradually so it does not startle the birds awake. Sensors on all the doors also can interact with the light. Cameras to check in on the chickens and cameras to monitor for predators. Wanted an automatic chicken door, but they are crazy expensive. Still not sure I have the ventilation right, but will monitor the temp and humidity to see how it goes.

very nice job!!! live it!!

Iā€™m the queen of coop expansions so says my husband. He says I need a winter hobby so I donā€™t spend my time looking for coop projects he needs to do in the spring.

The other end looking into the Ameraucana side. During winter everyone is together for more room and ease of dealing with waters and winter chores. I close the door and separate the breeds for mating in the spring.
