Show off your diy coop!

I read Art's thread about ventilation right in the middle of the build, so I came up with some ideas.
These walls are now covered with real hardware cloth (plastic in the photos).
I knew I wanted walls, so I just made them removable for the summer, and put some blocking behind so they still vent when the walls are on.
I also placed some screen over the entire top of the roof (to keep out wasps).
Then I used peg board over the screen and now the entire roof breathes. Due to building the coop on the fly with no plans, the rafters are not all the same height, so air can flow freely from the soffit to inside the coop.

I built a fence around the concrete to keep the ducks from pooping absolutely every where. For the gate I used some saloon door hinges just for fun and to see how they work. The chickens can of course go through and over easily, but they mostly stay were the ducks are, so it really helps.
They mostly hang out under this tree all day.
I built some other structures around the yard just to give them some more options.
Finally (for now), I put some temporary solar panels up on the roof, charge controller and battery in the storage area above the coop. I've got the power antenna and solar garden light to set-up an automatic door, but haven't done so yet.

Go Ryobi! Building coops across the land. @Brahma Chicken5000 How many chickens do you have in that pre-fab coop? I tried to build my coop with enough room, and suspect that I might even be able to double the number of my flock, but I'm so new I'm not sure what will work. I've got five chickens and two Pekins in there now and it is 7'L x 4'W x 4'T.

In the prefab I kept 8 large fowl chickens. The reason being that they were never shut in their for more than a few hours at night.

Behind the coop is a kind of waste land area that I didn't really know what to do with my yard. So I figured, "Well, I guess I can put chickens there." I tried to lay down some sod to be able to help with soil management and somewhere for the poop to soak into. I also built another little structure to just obscure them from the sky, as well as started another compost pile where they hang out.
I used the international pattern to demonstrate to my neighbors that I acquired free shingles.
The entirety of the area they get to occupy. I immediately regretted teaching them to go into the garden, as of course they are eating everything and now i need to fence them out.

Depending on how many birds you have the nice green grass now may not look so good after the birds get scratching in it. My pens all had grass in them originally but not any more.

For sure. I'm legally limited to six by the city, and something close to that by my wife. Honestly, the ducks are so big, they alone are the reason I don't have 10 hens already.
