We are new to the backyard chicken World! We converted an old play house into a coop and built the run. We insulated the coop for the cold winters. I am sure there will be changes we have to make but for now this is home to our flock of 4.

I built it from the ground up. I just looked at some pictures on Carolina Coops website and built it like theirs. Here are a few more pics.

Here's our Chicken Shanty, still have a few modifications and painting but the girls are living there and very happy. My hubby loves the design of the Carolina Coop I love the Taj Ma Coop on the medium coop page so together we came up with this. He built it and I watched LOL. I plan on building an open fenced area so they will have the run of both area's during the day. At night the covered coop is secured down for safety. We have 6 chickens now but started with 4 but as you all know they are quite addictive. We sit under the tree and watch their antics every afternoon after work. They are great therapy!

This a picture of one of my coops. It is always a work progress. There is a large enclosed run off of the back and a larger less secure run off to the side.

Awww..... what a cute little munchkin you have there, and awesome coop too! Funny, I'm always on the lookout for playhouses as well to convert it into a chicken coop, so it's awesome seeing one done.

So proud of my last chicken house. Chickens in dog kennel, dog in the yard. A little backwards, but saved many lives from my Pit/Bassett mix. Unfortunately, moved and had to leave it all behind. Homeowner's association :<. But I am sneaking by with quail. I'll be sharing those adventures soon.

Getting close to completing I should’ve heeded everyone’s advice that it would take twice as long as expected. Still have trim work and the tin roof to go on but I can now see the end is in sight!!

Looking good with recycled lumber.

Add a large overhang on the front to keep rain out of the nest box.
