I have 12 chickens total and we let them out in the yard to free range when someone’s home. I’ve also added a shade cloth over the top of the run. The run is a dog kennel and it’s wrapped in welded wire. Welded wire was also added to the top to fully enclose it. We also did 2 inches of pea gravel and 4 inches of construction sand.

that looks very well thought out! Do you have an image of the plans? Also, is that electric line around the perimeter to ward off critters? I'm guessing you've had some predators try and get in there eh?

I just bought the lumber and built it. The coop is 8x8 and the run is 16x8. I started with the 4x4, cut out the area for the floor frame and went from there framing everything based on door & window sizing.

The electric fence is mainly for the bear. The hardware cloth goes down into the ground.
