I havent read through all 113 pages but did read alot and loved the pics of all the very good looking birds. If this has been asked Im sorry but I would like to discuss and ask why you would want to keep games? I know in the past it was for illegal purposes and thankfully that is banned. I did see some of the birds were being held by kids and seem to do good. But Im new to this and just dont see why you would keep them. Like I said I want to discuss it and Im open to it. Im not trying to shut it all out. Thanks guys

There are people who keep chickens for eggs and there are people who keep them because they love them.

I think it goes for the rest, but I'd have them to preserve the breed as well as because I absolutely love the beauty an athleticism of the breed, whether it be European, American, or Oriental. They're just so majestic, rare, and gorgeous. Otherwise they'd be extinct, because the rest of the chicken owners just want something that lays eggs or produces meat.

Oh there is a lot more than that!! Look at all the color and varieties and think of all the show possibities. Their gentic makeup is a gold mine. They are by far the best freeranging bird there is and are wonderful to make crosses for the homesteaders. They have been bred probably longer than almost any other breeds. and much much more!!!

Hey Deadeye- Just as a visual aide - Check out post # 1074 - the picture! A picture is worth a thousand words!!! LOL And then take some time and look back through this thread even if you mostly look at the pics. I also think the Games are the most intelligent of the chickens but that's just my opinion.

Deadeye, to answer your question i would say acquire a good bloodline from a good breeder. In my opinion, why we raise games could not fully be put into words. You would just have to experience them yourself to get them, and honestly not everyone will like them. But about 95% of people I know who owned games, never went back to other breeds.
