Show Off Your Games!

To say I'm new to these birds is an understatement! I have read just the basics. They are quarantined right now. I got them 2 days ago. I convinced the other interested buyer to let me have these since there were other cocks and these were paired which I really wanted. I have all kinds of chickens. Seramas, layers, bantams (mostly o.e. roosters) and now these. I could really use help. I don't want to "fight" them but I also don't want to ruin them by improper handling. I don't know what the previous handler did with them. They were probably less desired cocks and it is a fall batch of peeps but if/when I breed them, I'd like to maintain/recover all the game I can.
Pick the best ones and sell the rest. Size, healthy, strength, speed, flight ability are some of the things I select for. Dominance among siblings and being first to the food is something I look for during their daily life. Color traits are something I dont really pay attention to. (although I just started keeping my white gamefowl separate).

I dont fight mine either.....

But I used to be a boxer and sometimes used gloves to see if I was any good against my friends. Nobody got hurt, but it sure let you know who is toughest. Slow motion video helps too so I can see how well I punched compared to my friends.

What about this one? As far as mama hens with peeps, what do I do? They are about 3 weeks old. How long before I take them or will leaving them with her till they NEED separated be best? Anyone recommend a book. Please no 'cocking for dummies' lol thanks
Has yellow legs.. looks like yellow leg hatch. but he is most likely a mix (like all American Gamefowl IMO)

that all depends on the birds. I leave them with the mum until she loses interest in them, when possible.
play it by ear, give them plenty of room.

This American hen split my lip last brood for trying to get a little to close for a pic, she's one of my favorites.

Oriental/American hen, she'll probably keep her chicks until they're her size. She hatched the eggs with her mother and sister sitting on the same nest.

Thats funny. I heard orientals werent the best for brood, but maybe halfbreeds are really good at it. those are really old chicks.
