How many blacks do you have and when did you get them? How are they temperament wise?

I constantly have to fix pens. The ground is real soft and the hens like to dig out on me. I’ve had two dig out in two weeks. One was my fault because I saw the gap and didn’t do anything. The other one was a well planned and orchestrated jail break. I swear she covered up her work with straw when she saw me coming.

Oh yeah I didn’t post this. The other day when I posted this pic about an hour later I was dubbing birds. It just got dark and I left the bird on the cord since he was next. Just as I finished dubbing a pumpkin I hear that black screaming! I had a headlamp on but it was almost dead and real dim. I ran over to find a gray fox trying to steal my chicken! Lol
He grabbed him by the body and tried to run off with him but the bird was attached to the ground. I almost got a hold of the fox but he was a little too quick for me.
The rooster had a tiny scratch and that was it other than missing some feathers off his wing and underside. He’s good to go. The fox’s days are numbered along with the rest of his family.

My game hen is starting to demand free range time by making a ruckus until I let the main flock out.
She will probably go broody soon. Can’t wait to set eggs under her.

I been breeding them for long time like 7 or 8 years now.. They came from two lines...
warhorse hens I acquired through trade
and white spanish hens I had, threw a few blacks when I bred to hatch.
I bred these together along with hatch and brown-red blood to get what I have today.

So mixed breed I developed basically.

They good when handled as incubator chicks, but otherwise wild if not handled.

Yes I’m going to put real fertile chicken eggs under her when she goes broody.
