Show Off Your Games!

Typically, you just don't go to a hatchery for Orientals. My good friend Glenn Drowns does his best at suppling some Orientals but excepting Cubalayas you are talking about a very difficult thing to do.

Hatcheries are about the bottom line. Orientals typically lay very few eggs and then go broody. Thus, there is NO WAY a hatchery can supply quality Oriental Games and make a profit. It's just that simple.

Yes, I have been told that many times before. Forgive me, but I'm flustered with the steep prices breeders put on their birds. The prices are understandable, and one usually gets fantastic birds, but my budget is a very strict one and I must suffice for hatchery mutts. If there was a local breeder who didn't charge $200 per cock or pair, than maybe I'd already have had some beautiful Malays or Thais

Kraiencroppe ? maybe but prolly not as they are from the feed store which usually means hatchery birds, most of the big time hatcheries that supply feed stores with chicks wouldn't just send kraienkoppes out randomly as EE's or packing peanuts esp. pullets, too rare, and not even availible at Ideal now and from the looks of it haven't been for some time.

To Big b-I agree, they do not have a rose comb, they have a cushion comb. They are kraienkoppes, maybe not perfect examples of such, I think they ought to have red earlobes?, but the comb gives it away.
Gallo4319-there are ga cua in the states, very very rare. Saladin has a few, maybe he can add more info.

Sorry to say Gresh but you will have a hard time finding beautiful Orientals from a hatchery it is just not compatible with their style of production.

Unless you get cubalayas...

they are such good layers, and smaller, they are not totally ruined by hatcheries. Still decent. The other breeds will be a shadow of what they should be. You can find good large oriental games ones for fair/reasonable prices if you contact good breeders, and are prepared to wait. Not cheap, but, fair.

I know. I thought I clarified that in my last post by saying "hatchery mutts", but forgive me if it wasn't clear enough.

In what ways are most hatchery Cubalayas still "decent"? The two biggest things I am desiring is weight and body-build. If they reach standard weights and if they have the Cubalaya build and carriage, than I can cope with any color flaws that may accompany them.
