We used to buy 1x4 doug fur boards cut to 4 feet long, use 12 of these to make a box. Wrap them with
chicken wire, sides and top. These will be fairly light weight and you can move them around quite easily.
If it's ever cold or raining you can just top them with tarp, scrap wood or what have you. This is a inexpensive way to house those stags and they seem to hold up pretty good. They seem to last longer if you wrap that wire tight. And when you feed and water them you just lift the cage. All the tools you
really need are a hammer, nails and staple gun. These worked really well for us.
I would post pictures but the pens are at my fathers house.

That sounds easy enough. A picture would be great. how long does it take to make one?

I don't really recall the exact time it took to make one as it has been awhile. The first couple took a little
time playing with the idea and all, but after that we put them up pretty quick. The only thing that was time consuming was stretching the wire but even that didn't take long. If you try and build one you'll
see how basic and simple it really is. Use a screwdriver to stretch the wire, it really helps and staple as you stretch. My father and I built 25 of these about 8 years ago over a few weekends and they are still standing strong.

I am looking for a black or birchen game cock to breed with my largefowl Moderns. I am trying to create a new bloodline on these Moderns, and would really like to find a large Modern cock/cockerel to use, but I can do just about anything in the American Game, Old English, whatever as long as its in the same color pattern. I have a ginger red large fowl american game cock I was going to use, but I think I may be able to find something out there if I look a little harder. Any tips or suggestions. I'm in Indiana. Would prefer not to go into Pyle colors, if so, I know where some nice Pyle moderns are, but I like the varieties we already have. Just lacking a cock bird for breeding.

Grandaddy,

Very nice looking birds on all counts I can see!

What color eyes do your blackish games have?

What kind of comb do they have?

What will be the typical weight of cocks be?

Hello every body! Some nice looking birds I see. Glad this thread has kept going. Here's a couple of my favorites from this year. A Kelso cross, and a pure shorty grey.
