i had fun recently w/american game hen, she hatched three babies and i held her to look at them. she grabbed the skin on my arm and twisted. i put her down and she flogged me on the legs. i think she is hatch, but boy howdy you dont mess with her babies. i think ill keep to silkies for settin' eggs from now on, its safer (i have a bruise on my arm to prove it) lol

I got a game hen from a friend three or four years ago and I put her under my arm to clip one wing because my pen didn't have a top on it. This was when I took her out of the cage. She grabbed me by my NIPPLE!!! Sure woke me up!!!

Thanks all. I still haven't gotten quite over it yet. He was an excellent specimen. I really hope his offspring take on all of his excellent features the stags I got from him are 6 months old. It will be another 10 months before they will possibly look anything close to what their dad did. I will have pics of the stags on here soon for everyone to see. I guess now to keep the pure Sweater line going I would have to breed the stag to him mom.? Would this work? I thinks it's called Line-breeding

The breeder who I purchased the pair from was very particular about how he did his breeding. He breed them so they would not be related however still pure with no other crosses just from different families. I didn't want to make the offspring any less than what I recieved from the breeder by breeding son to mom. I was even considering purchasing a new Pure Sweater from him if the price was right. I emailed him about what happened yesterday. I still haven't gotten any response. The pair came with a wing band with the Gentleman's Last name engraved and the Roo also had a leg band with a number on it. He seemed like a very serious breeder and he knew what he was talking about. He is a 3rd Generation Game fowl breeder. I'll keep you posted as to what I decide to do when I hear back from him. The pair came from Texas.

she bit your nipple, oh my, i hope she didnt twist! i have 2 ag hens that are darker in color w/lighter chest (hatch, roundhead) and they are def meaner, more skiitish. my lighter colored ag hens are calmer and less agressive. i like them more and are very muscular, i wish i had more of them

Jona sorry about your loss.. Im a very big fan of sweaters my self too. im breeding 3 families of them right now. From a very very good source. I really like them. Last month i lost my sweater brood cock that is really nice. He was a seed fowl thats good for breeding.. Bu t unfortunately i lost him with some possums,. one night i wait for them with my video camera with nightvision they were 6 or so of them.. I think they attack by groups.. 3 or 4 of them will help each other to kill a cock.. good thing i got some offsprings out of from him and they really look promising.. il just pick the best stag and breed back to his mother.. Again sorry about your loss.. Looking forwARD TO SEE SOME PICS..
