Let me say this my limited knowledge in Cockfighting comes form 30 yr ago... until last year I hadn't had birds for 30 yr...Cockfighting is illegal (so is speeding) I don't raise my birds for illegal purposes. People that buy my birds take them to Mexico and make house pets.


Historically speaking Game Cock should have a thick breast, small intestines ,strong and fast, Smart is the most impotent (that was in long heel)

Feed and handling is just as impotent as the bird..

I hate bring this up but in those days there was a line of Round heads that wasn't Dead Game but they fast, strong, and smart they could win without getting cut much...

All Gamefowl are junk until they prove otherwise

Asil are Oriental Gamefowl, some are "game" and others, reportedly, aren't. This is due to the style many of them were bred to fight in: Taped heels/boxing. Usually non-lethal and usually no puncturing (some OGs and Asil did use artificial heels, and natural spurs - naked heel). But yet, and even with birds bred for the mentioned non-lethal styles, there is said to be excellent, game strains/lines. You just have to know what you're getting and from who, really, as with all Gamefowl. Malay aren't usually identified with Gamefowl, or am I wrong? I don't know much about them. "Game" is the willingness to die fighting for the victory, no matter what's happened, is happening or anything. It should be able to be passed on to the offspring, it's genetic. Birds fought with lethal, artificial weapons, for longer periods of time, usually are in greater need of "gameness" than any others, so it's easier to pick out the good from the bad in those styles, usually.

Will an Asil or Malay stay until death? I have never owned one and dont know about them... Are they considered game by your definiton?

I would think so but I never owned one either I have not had my Boles long enough test and Boles aren't pure Asil
Before I AG there are people on hear that know more than me

The acknowledgment of the MANY different styles in which even just these birds (AGs) were bred to perform in is ultra-important. Emphasis is put on different qualities for different styles. Gameness should always be there, it would often be what would "make or break" the game. But indeed, it often was not even called upon. Especially in certain styles such as the LK, were one bird would usually gain the victory almost immediately. So, all things considered, there isn't just one right conformation, as I'm sure we're all aware of. Gamefowl, even just AGs, are extremely versatile in looks and abilities. But there are some things we all like to see in our birds, whether or not their presence, or lack of, disqualifies a bird from being quality or not, is negotiable at best. But speed, power, endurance, strength, agility, and others, are all important qualities that are good to have. In my OGs, I like a "smart headed" bird. And I wont tolerate a "ducker".

I am a closet AGF lover. I do have a banty AGF/OEGB cross roo myself that I love! He is my main man.

Anyhow, my question to you knowlegable peeps is: there is a agf [mixed bloodlines] roo appox 4-5 months old that lives at the stables I keep my horse at. He is very unusual in that he has a girlish looking comb& no wattles but does have a few hackle & saddle feathers coming in. He has very long, thin white legs and NO red streak down them. Does have spur nubs and I have heard him crow but very seldom. He is shunned by the hens and roo in the pen where he lives. He is a BBR color. I have never seen a fowl that has traits from both male and female, what are your thoughts on this? I am just curious. Thank you I can get a picture of him, just gotta remember to take the camera out there!
