Show Off Your Games!

As I've said before "game chickens" are different than domesticated chickens, if you don't respect the history of "game chickens" or "game people" then you don't need to own game chickens, it can be a touchy subject, to a lot of folks its like religion and politics.....have to understand the history involved with game and respect the breed and the people involved with it!!! Game chickens have been in my family for many generations, so i know how people can get upset. But in the long run people that don't know what they're doing end up getting beat at the shows from the people that do know what they're doing.....remember some do it for a living !

I guess I will find out about flavor, I've got two different batches coming along. I've heard conflicting reports on the edibility of gamefowl. I've actually cooked and eaten crow, so it can't be that bad. My guess is that cutting out the breast fillets is about the best you can do with them, and then treat them like gamebirds. We feed the raw food diet to our meat eating animals so nothing gets wasted around here.
Ill say it depends how you cook it .
Game chickens should follow a deferent process or recipe .
How many of you cook pheasant the same way you cook a chickens .
I know is a chicken ( game chicken ) but meat is harder than normal chickens .
I can just picture Gordon Ramsey from master chef saying Is not a table chicken for god sake

Game is generally not prepared the same as chicken for best results. I always figured they would have a good flavor like grouse, quail and pheasant, but have a possibility of being tough. I'll find out I guess, I have a bunch of OEGs from cackle, probably some culling going to happen there.

With eating a game chicken i like to De-bone the meat cut it up a lil bit, cook it like soup, with crock pot and whatever else u want....vegetables etc....the crock pot helps tender the meat, if you don't like the gamey taste, marinade it the day before preparing. I know a lot of y'all are probably saying........duh but, just sharing a good way to eat chicken

add a little rice with the veggies , some onions & garlic ,salt and pepper .... that slow long cooked/boiled chicken will be better than eating at the steak house .
