Pullets get 5gal buckets with tops flipped over that I get free from work thankfully. Hens get 16"x 18"x 16" high nest boxes I can get 3 out of a sheet of plywood for the breeders they will get a 4' wide x 16" high laying trough divided into 3 spaces. Since I pull eggs it works for me but if I were to let them set I would single mate in a dome pen. I found out quick one of the overlooked pricey things are nest boxes.

Lookup fire extinguisher service companies in your area. The dry chemical comes in 5 gal buckets and I can guarantee they will have tons of empty useless to them buckets. Don't worry about the chemical just clean, it's just sodium bicarbonate which is pretty safe.

Thanks but I have ran into a design flaw, if u have hens that like to meet u at the door like mine maybe think about making a front wall about a foot high or so under the door so the door stops a foot from the ground and u have to step over the wall and into the pen. But hey that's how it's done, learn as u go

Sdm, are doing anything for hens as far as laying quarters? That is one of my biggest challenges right. Good nest sites that do not cost too much.
I worked on my Aviary this weekend. I started a row of nesting boxes, I used old plywood so it was really cheap. I am going to add a roof made out of galvanized corrugated steel roofing.

Boxes are approx 14" x 12" x 12" high.... The roof for the nesting box will be angled for poo or water to run off.. and I will probably make it hinged so I can access the boxes from the top.
