Show Off Your Games!

I have photos taken back in 1913 of birds that are direct ancestors of birds I currently have.
Cool! I love to see those if you have them scanned onto your computer already. I wish I could see the direct anscestor of my birds.

I was just curious to see how they have changed over time compared to current gamefowl. Also trying to get some old knowledge on the breed considering their long history and their "former" popularity. Ive looked through the internet for free publications, but most cost money.

he should be a stubby before long he's losing his tail quick

No he is kinda a blessing story is i traded a young pair of rubles for him sight unseen. The guy said he was a sweater. When I seen him I knew he wasn't but when sparred had a good style and broke real high like 4.5'I liked him so we traded. And when I did some research I'm pretty sure he is or at least has either chocolate Albany or claret in him due to his color, yellow legs black spurs and sparring style. And a while back when I was talking about trying to create a family of sweaters with Albany infused well here he is. Weather Albany or claret he'll definately work. I have the Kelso hatch cross pullets from this years hatch so I'm on my way hopefully to some nice fowl but only time will tell. He's with a hatch hen of unknown line now just to burn off energy

Cool story and good looking rooster, sounds like a plan to start your own line of Arbitro fowl :)

That hen looks good and healthy too.

How do they know how high to break? Higher is better I assume? ... Mine break at differnt heights depending on who they are paired with. All my heavy birds are ground and pound style and dont get off the ground much. They come out hard horizontally like a tackle, and after that they try to grab hackle and pull the other guy down. Modern Game is more like a stand up neck wrestler. My Spanish mixes try to fly high but end up low because nobody is up there to meet them. PM me if you want to. Id be interested to find out more info on the subject, obviously cant go into detail on here, but if you have a link or something send it my way.

To grab at them ( to bill ) is a big no no u want then head back feet out. To work the ground is to shuffle. Some breeds are more breakers and some are more shufflers and then u put then in a "keep" to refine their style. That's why mostly you do battle crosses to try to get the best of both worlds. Take for instance a grey they are inherently a slower hard hitting shuffler where a hatch is inherently a lighter faster higher breaker think of it like they fly straight up and come down with head back and feet out. Not to say that's all they do but that's one main difference in a grey and a red bird then there's all the others that have their styles which is way too much info to publish openly ill pm later. And I don't care what anybody says you don't teach a cock to fight it's in them they do it naturally either game or dunghill (a coward, runner )
