Cubalaya, did you get all of your cubalaya stock from Sandhill? The hens included? How long have you had them?

i got my original stock from sandhill and have had them a few years now. i sold all my red pyles, whites and sport wheatons, keeping the brown reds and bb reds. when one of the guys that bought the red pyles decided he wasn't going to breed them anymore, he gave me a red pyle cockerel and pullet so now i am breeding the red pyles again. i need to take some new pics because the birds that i have raised are even better than the parent stock. i am trying to get some blue reds from ideal this spring.

I just read the conversation concerning Cubalayas.

Cubalayas are NOT a GAME breed and never were in Cuba or in the USA. They were created for meat, eggs and as a show fowl.
The background of the Cubalaya includes various Oriental and Game breeds but that does not make them Game any more than a Cornish is Game!

Don Carlos Caballe was one of the creators of the breed and wrote about them.


I first published that article again for Dr Saenz back 7 or 8 years ago.

yea they are very helpful but I did get scolded once.I dont mean their is hate its more like compitition.Plus I got a pm from someone that says otherwise.But I enjoy both sites and each has what the other doesnt,I already won 2nd place in the photo contest my first month as a member.
