I heard mothballs keep them away but as much as I love snakes this would be a very unwelcomed an untolerated visit
Scared me big time. I have a shade cloth covering the nesting box for privacy... I opened it up and see this monster in there trying to swallow an egg. Look on my face... priceless. I am an animal lover so I let him eat the egg, which was pretty amazing feat, considering it never broke. Sent him on his way after he finished. I surprised hens didnt freak out... just tried to eat the tip of tail.

We have a nesting area under one porch for a few of the girls, and we found a big black water moccasin last year eating eggs in there. My son killed it with the machete but any snake scares the crap out of me down here. Most are poisonous. When I see a snake I run in the opposite direction.

Yes egg eaters with swallow it and then contract they're muscles to crush it while inside the throw up the shell very cool to watch

I was born in FL and when I was 7 I was catching rattle snakes longer than I was tall also had a pet gator and great blue herrin bird that would sit on either side of me waiting for fish as I caught them

I am use to the state of Maine snakes where none are poisonous, when we were kids we handled the grass snakes all the time, but down here I know they could have venom so always best to run.

It's a good day the start of the hatch of my cardinal club Kelso over col. Givens hatch on my way to a long road to setting my own family of sweater
