If you're worried about making your rounds and finding a dead hen id wait till the male is at least 1.5yrs old to introduce them they seem to calm down around that age to me.

While I have your attention a little off topic but how would one aquire a pair or trio of manderine ducks? The wife wants some and I'd like to build them a nice habitat. And if I were to get eggs would they be ok under a chicken or does it have to be a duck

I've hatched ducks under chickens several times with no problems,takes 4 weeks

When I posted that I thoguht they were little stags... but afterwards I noticed they were pullets... very nice ones at that!!!! Great station like you said... Have you considered adding really high station blood like that to your miner blues? Might be a fun project, trying to get the colors back to blue while keeping high station. Have you added fresh bloodlines to your blues recently?

No gonna keep them with same blood. Haven't found any other blues I would want to introduce. And may cross just to see but they're pretty much staying the same
