I remember once when we had 3 mares all ready to foal anyday and we got up every hour and checked on them..and we still missed them! lol

Sadly we only got 2/3. One colt died..it was so awful!

My reasoning is far more monetarily based...colts sell better than fillies at auction. Especially colts born earlier in the year who are nice big boys by the time the fall sales roll around. Our fillies were both born later in teh "season" and we are keeping them til the fall yearling sales because they were just too small. They are coming around now, but it still will be a hard sell in this market.​
