Show off your house ducks!

I gotta laugh when they think their teeny, tiny wing-ding is hiding that big snooter

Or even better, when they stand up tall and flap them proudly like they're actually trying to fly with those useless lil' nubs! I also love when they stand or lie down and they're so fluffy all they can do is carry them completely held out to their sides :p

LOL yup! It's even funnier to see the snoot thing with call ducks, since their bills are so monumentally tiny all that happens is their heads slip right through and go bonk on the floor. But it doesn't stop them from trying, over...and over...and over...

Oh hun, it's been ages since I've seen you this happy. I'm so glad you finally found another lil' scovy baby. <3

Hi & welcome to BYC! I had one Muscovy inside as a house duck but she was never alone really in the dogs' room when I went to work. She went everywhere with me that I can take my dogs & some places that no one really noticed her in her backpack that they would notice a dog :D
I have a new little Muscovy baby that will be a lone ducklet like Daisy was so it can be done you just have to put in the time with them, but that goes with most all pets.
If it's just the one you really need to give them lots of attention. It's like having a toddler that never gets older, just smarter as to what they can try to get away with around you:lol:

Thanks scoveymumma! He most certainly is our baby! We now refer to eachother as mummy and daddy and he goes everywhere with us! Visiting his grandparents and to the shops plus lots of bath time and out door time and probably way to many treats.. He is always the center of attention so no issues there! Currently sitting on dad's lap as he talks to him and gives him lots of kisses. It's beautiful

I have a question though, does anyone else's duck love eating their hair? Whenever we have cuddles Fergus goes nuts over my hair, I got him some my little pony toys which he loves but I was wondering, is it bad for him? It's like he's preening mum, not swallowing it or anything. My partner has become very good at knowing what "our son" wants but this one amuses me!

Hi Fergus,

One lone duck kept outdoors is not a happy duck. I think you should go ahead and bring him inside. If you can't be there with him 24/7, I think you need to get a second duck. Most of us with solo duckies are home all the time, or bring them with us to work!

Thanks amykins we're definitely keeping him inside it's way to freezing out for him without all his feathers!he gets so much attention from mummy and daddy I don't think he will like being an outside duck so I'm glad to hear there are a lot of happy house ducks about! Just need to get him some nappies! Thinking of making some as they're sooo expensive to ship to Australia! Seems ducks aren't as popular as pets over here :/

Hey guys, The Internet has been down at the house the last few days and it sucks. Awhhh ..... Definitely... Work on routine.. They are terribly good at keeping with schedules.. My husband works early so we get up at 5am to make him breakfast and help get ready.. A schedule the ducks got very used to.. Especially the morning treat treat. Screaming ducks at 5 am on a Sunday morning reminding you its time to wake up is not the most comforting alarm clock.. There is no snooze button. Llol. Anyways,

My last post I shows a pic Thor them in their new cage, and I loveee it... Sooo much easier to clean!!!!! Here is the link to get it.. This reall cheap.. Only $25 I think, fits both 6week old Ancona ducks great and did I mention super easy to clean? And since it's partially enclosed they can't poop out the sides..(thier favorite game while in the dog crate) anyways were at McDonald's for the wifi and gotta go, I'll be back soon!!!

Good luck everyone and your adorable ducky adventures!!

How do you clean this? My duckies still stay in their little plastic bin at night and it is getting to small :(

he bottom is attached not detachable like the others, and the bottom is like a plastic coated canvas, i dont know how else to describe it, but its the easiest to clean!! i just put puppy pads or newspaper down, (soon ill be putting bedding on top of that to absorb better), then you just roll it up like a diaper ,throw away, use either baby wipes or spray and wipe clean. it comes off easy and doesnt smell as bad as plastic bins. plus the top opens which my babies love cuz they can poke their heads up and see me.. (they are pretty big now, and two fit perfect
