Show off your house ducks!

Peep needs more space! His dog kennel is just seeming too small and where it could go with every other day cleaning, now it needs to be changed out daily. It stays cleaner on the weekends when I'm home and he is out more, but during the week I work from 9-5 and I just don't want him to have to lay in a mess while I'm gone. He is currently in a large breed, enclosed dog kennel. Does anyone have an affordable suggestion for creating a new, larger containment space (i.e., converting an old pack and play or something like that)? I'm trying to think of something that is easy to line and get pine bedding in and out of. Also, will expanding his space keep it any cleaner? Or will he just make the mess to fit the size of his space? This thread is a god-send! I really appreciate everyone's advice and willingness to answer my questions!

I just posted e link for the cage we just got.. It works so much better.. We used to keep them in a large dog kennel but they would shoot poop out of the sides.. This thing is truly a lifesaver.. Easy to clean.. And only $25. I posted a pic of my anconas in it, so you can tell its roomy :D

Oh I'm sure they will, everyone there ADORES Wobs n' Bean! Beables? Still working on that portmanteau...(fun fact: According to the proofreader, "beables" is a real word. Who knew.)

I'm sure everything will be fine, I just hate the thought of leaving them behind. They're so attached, I really do worry they'll think I've abandoned them. Ducks hate change, so I don't want to stress the poor things out to the point of it being unhealthy for them. At least the place is air-conditioned, so they got a leg up on me for that. Poor things keep panting, and I just can't stay downstairs with them all day!
Portmanteau. I like that. Or from old SNL, snigglet. I hope the babies of web footedness aren't gonna be stressed. I don't blame you at all. I bet since you haven't even left yet you miss Beables. I do before I even leave mine. Am heading to CA this coming weekend and am contemplating taking them. But I don't wanna stress them out. Do not know what to do.

I gotta laugh when they think their teeny, tiny wing-ding is hiding that big snooter

Thanks so much!!

he bottom is attached not detachable like the others, and the bottom is like a plastic coated canvas, i dont know how else to describe it, but its the easiest to clean!! i just put puppy pads or newspaper down, (soon ill be putting bedding on top of that to absorb better), then you just roll it up like a diaper ,throw away, use either baby wipes or spray and wipe clean. it comes off easy and doesnt smell as bad as plastic bins. plus the top opens which my babies love cuz they can poke their heads up and see me.. (they are pretty big now, and two fit perfect

So you would not recommend one with a detachable bottom? This is one I am looking at for my ducks.

No way, me too! Whereabouts in CA? I'm visiting family in Santa Rosa, way up near Sonoma. As for your finchies, do you have anyone to come in and check on them and clean their cages for you? You may have trouble bringing them even if you do decide to bring 'em along; I can't find one single airline that'll allow my ducks on board. Yet I've seen pigs on planes. Go figure.
