Show off your house ducks!

Lol Amykins. I had Newfoundlands (BIG dog). Had several people say that about her. She would have been a banquet. Now I have an American Eskimo. Lunch. Lol

Oh no, they did not! Wow! I mean, who SAYS that? I love Newfies, though. They're such sweethearts, when they're not accidentally knocking you over, hehe.

eriously, I wish I could get decent money for my meat ducks, but I'm lucky to get $2.90/pound, and that's after I've fed them for six months.

Hehe, yeah. Although I feel like a hypocrite giggling at that 'cuz I am getting REAL sick of people "joking" about eating my ducks when they're in my presence. It's like, I don't go up to someone walking their dog and go "nice pooch, bet I could get $10 a pound for 'im at the local Chinese restaurant"
Wow, you would have to be very "special" to think of raising call ducks for meat. Hmmm, Hard to hatch, high mortality, typically not as good at sitting on their own eggs, impossible not to fall in love with and a Pekin can lay an egg every day with more protein in it than a whole call duck. If you charged $50/lb you would pay for the incubator in ..... NEVER! You would still be losing money. If you want to eat little birds raise quail

I lose money selling Muscovies for meat, and lose way more selling Pekings for meat. Six month old peking - $15, that's it!

why are some people so tacky? I've had people in the past say their cat would love my birds and I come back with the comment, "well then, my Ruger would love your cat.". I don't advocate hurting any animal but one rude statement like that deserves my retort.

I know what you mean by that. People at work, even ones I really like, joke about eating ducks. I don't have any problem with people eating ducks, or even with them talking about it, but it's kind of hurtful when they seem to be directing it at me like my ducks would be better used for dinner than for pets. I don't think they know it's hurtful. I wouldn't even imply to people who keep chickens as pets that I'd like to eat them, and I eat store-bought chicken more than any other type of meat.
