Show off your house ducks!

Daisy used to get along with all the other dogs & the cat & the ferret. She would easily sit near them or on them.
River...not so much. She has this thing about nipping at the dogs' faces & ears & nipping the cat's tail...they hold a grudge & walk away from her now. They don't like being in the same room with her so it's like some kind of bad high school lunch room flashback

Who else has other pets & how do they get along with the ducks?

Eh, at first the cats didn't take kindly to them, but now for the most part everyone tolerates one another. Sometimes they'll swat at the ducks, but it's rare. The thing you have to be careful about is do NOT let the ducks touch the cat's saliva, under no circumstances! That means no letting them drink out of the cat's bowl, don't let the cats drink out of theirs.

Way too late for that. They drank from the community bowl (& swam in it) since they were ducklings. I let them loose in the kitchen every day for exercise (& they helped cook & grabbed anything that fell). Did I do something horrible?

Oh, dear...you gotta put the kibosh on that ASAP. Cats and dogs carry a nasty bug called pasteurella which is harmless to mammals, but deadly to birds. Humans are carriers too, but it's only about a 50% rate for harboring it, compared to roughly 75-85% of cats. Dogs less so, around 60-70%, but still a pretty significant number.

It can work very quickly in ducks, which is why prevention is the best route to take.

Isn't it the same type of thing that makes cat bites so **** horrible? The only animal I've ever had bad bite reaction from were cat bites, to the point of lancing.

Oh he is just too precious! I love hos gigantic his feet are compared to the rest of him, haha! What a sweet little birb. <3

OMG, I died at "potsticker". That's too perfect for a fatty finch-grub! My other favorite is "you that suffers from chunkitis" :gig
Ha-ha, thanks. They are funny. I love the one you came up with that I will use. Fatty finch-grub is so awesome and fits my boy to a T.

We talk goofy to all the animals (shhh. They think they are people). So far the only thing I have called the ducks is flappy feet. No one is overweight but we have told them they were just about roasting size. They come running to kitty kitty because that's how I called the silkies. Lol
I love flappy feet.

Yep, that's one of the ones that causes cat bites to get so icky. The other nasty bug they carry is toxoplasmosis gondii, but that comes out their other end... ;) Sorry you had to get lanced, though, that sounds serious! I hope your hands were okay after that.

Once you have had toxo you won't get it again. Not much danger unless you're pregnant or maybe immune compromised. The vet I worked for said you'd practically have to clean the litter box and then put fingers in your mouth that had fresh feces on them.
