Show off your house ducks!

Well, hindsight is 20/20. Although "Bean" hasn't thrown herself into an enchilada yet, so we'll just have to see.

You said Bean was 4 1/2 months old, yes? Which month was she hatched, may I ask? I'm curious as Lady Grey seems to be 'going through some changes', lol... :)

Closer to 5, really. She was hatched a few days before Easter. We're not sure when exactly.

I had to look it up, but Lady Grey is a bit younger, lol... huh, I wonder if it's not so much 'getting close to laying' as it is an extended type of puberty? Body changes and hormone levels rising?

Possibly? Bean was acting awfully flirtatious with Wobs as early as 3 months. That's when she began doing her "circle around him chirping wildly" thing.

Yes, I am ready for this! I work tomorrow daylight, get her sat, and I'm off sat and Sunday at least so I can be there 24/7 for at least the first 48 yrs. I'm so excited! I hope it doesn't fall thru or something!

So, I dunno what's going on with Dandy's tummy. (I know she looks a little dirty, it was before her bath time)
No bugs crawling on her, she isn't plucking herself, no crazy scratching, she hasn't been hanging out in any public parks. That's shavings stuck to her but the belly is nekkid. I don't remember Daisy having a second molt this quick but it has been a while for me to remember.
The skin looks healthy with no redness or damage & there seems to be new feather stems coming in. She's just all downy fluff with some feather barbs. It was all sharp little pokey feathers that broke off last week. She's still eating like a horse & pooing like a cow so that all works. Any ideas?

Mine are Calls, so different type, but they seemed to go almost directly into their second molt as soon as the had all their first full feathers in... and they always start with the belly feathers first... maybe she is just one of those that loses the old ones all at once before the new ones really start coming in well? Mine molt in patches so they look rough and not bare (although I have joked about naked ducks when the old feathers start dropping off), but I have heard of it and seen some pics of very bare ducks...
Just a fhought, maybe? She doesn't look like her skin is irritated or anything, I agree...

Hey guys, I posted this over in the call duck thread but I wanted to share it here, too. I found a DIY thing on youtube showing how to build a pretty sweet indoor duck run!

As for you Scovy, I wish I knew. I've never seen a duck go totally bald all over their belly before just from a normal molt. Although I HAVE seen a macaw do that. So take my conflicting experiences with a grain of salt. Maybe she was just way too eager to get her adult plumage?
