Show off your house ducks!

Thank you for the bump! I am RIDICULOUSLY busy right now - spring is the duck boom! I'm cranking out diapers and fielding questions like you wouldn't believe haha

It definitely looks like irritation to me (mind you I am NOT a veterinarian, I'm just "in the diaper world") though it doesn't look so bad that I'd suspect feather rot.
Where did you buy your diaper (I'm only an expert on mine, but knowing what style she's wearing will be super helpful), what is the diaper made out of (cotton, velour, spandex, etc?) does it have a waterproof layer?
How long does your ducky wear her diaper in one sitting? How long does she wear her diaper each day?
How often do you change her?
What are you using as an "absorbent insert" inside the diaper?
Does she have access to her food and water all the time or does she have feeding times?
What are you feeding her (regular food and treats, does she get kitchen scraps?)
Keeping her out of the diaper while she heals up and her feathers grow back should fix her up, but if diapering is how she lives her day you may need to adjust something to prevent this in the future.
Don't worry though! We all go through trial and error wroth diapering! It's just like diapering human babies, nothing works for EVERYBODY, we all have specific needs and preferences. As long as you catch it before she's hurting you'll both be ok =)

And by request @Tevyes Dad =P

Hello everyone. My Muscovy has a bold spot around her butt. I'm bit concerned cause I don't think it is normal. It looks very pink :( Do you guys think the diaper might be the cause? Should I keep her off the diaper for a while?

Thank you in advance

Yes I think it's better to take off the diaper for a while. I know with rabbits the skin can get irritated and painfull from their urine, I suppose it's the same for ducks. If you have an ointment to help the skin recover I'd put that on, too. I don't know any US products but I wouldn't use anything with antibiotics. There are ointments with honey that work very good or use something homeopathic. Poor girl I hope her butt recovers soon

I think it's probably better just to keep it dry for now unless she starts to show signs of pain.
What kind of ointments do you guys have? I've used VetRX for all KINDS of things on ChaCha and I totally love that stuff! I know a lot of people with fowl use blukote, but I've never tried it. I like the idea of homeopathic things first, then if I an't fix it move on to the chemicals and vet recommendations.

Hahaha thanks! I've been working on that diaper for a year! Finally made it to reality and I LOVE IT. Hopefully taking pictures of all the other color options today so I an send out these ones to the patient customers that have been my watermelon guinea pigs ha.
