I am a seamstress and have a pretty busy shop so finding time to search for or perfect a duck diaper harness just wasnt a viable option.....So glad I ordered a duck diaper from Sew Sammi on Etsy (kukupevpec - hope its spelled right, lol) a fellow etsy shop owner.
I had also bought a few items from a site called www.avaianfashions.com and wow, what a bunch of junk! As a seamstress and quilt shop owner, and small business, I do not usually give a bad review, etc as I firstly understand that people are human and also get the fact that a bad review never goes away...... but was so angry with how they do things that I feel obliged to warn others..... they do sell cute stuff for burds that LOOK to be of good quality but this is the trouble with their duck products. ...
I spent $110 on a diaper harness, skirt and bow / collar set and a "lug a duck" -think cat carrier for ducks - I specifically asked for the harness to be small as Deema is a rather small duck.....ordered the skirt and bow and carrier all the same....black and white checks with pink lace. BEFORE submitting, THEY have a pop up that asks " if we cant make your items in the size or color, do you want....a -- refund or b -- alt size or color since they do not refund NO MATTER WHAT. I chose to be refunded.
They charged me $110 and sent all items in wrong colors AND size and the harness - which has a snap closure for the skirt - was on the wrong side and facing the back of the bird! It is supposed to face away from the bird as the skirt has the other end of the snap for placement. The lug a duck was better quality but broken (srts up like a tent and the pole was snapped so it doesnt even stand up) !
I spoke with their customer service and they do not even make the diapers or other duck items. They have them outsourced to folks around the US and obviously do not inspect the work nor care how bad it is. The skirt / outfit was marked on the bag in the wrong size - says it is a medium and for colors, they wrote black and white checks with pink lace but sent blue and white checks with white lace and dirty pink fabric as a trim it is visibly the wrong colors. The invoice shows exactly what was ordered but I still got garbage.
I didnt even take it out of the bag and am stuck with the junk! The bow collar is soooo terribly done and is also safety pinned together! Not a good idea for animals who LOVE shiny and can reach right down with their bill and bite it!
I would hate to see anyone else throw away that kind of money and feel I need to say something!

I did find a fellow seller on Etsy who made me a fab diaper in the RIGHT size and COLOR and it was less money and arrived in 3 days and has already survived a week of wear, a daily wash in the machine, hand washed prob 30 times, lol, and still in great shape!
So glad to have found Sew Sammi! And plan to order more for sure!!

They also have ONLY good feedback and reviews posted on their site. When I tried to leave honest feedback about the issues I encountered, it wouldn't even allow it to be posted!! I find that to be pretty dishonest and rotten....especially when they refuse to refund for THEIR mistakes!

Gosh...thanks for the warning! I already purchased their "starter kit" which arrived on time, but the baby diapers weren't that great. I chalked it up to her being so small it just wasn't possible to make a diaper that was easy to use and clean, but it's literally just a bathing suit material that's been hastily cut out, no sewing at all. And even THAT I had to cut down further just to fit her. Even the ones she isn't big enough yet are frayed and worn. The whole thing probably cost $10 total and cost me $45. Now I realize that's just their M.O.

I also was looking at Sew Sammi, who seems to have good work. I think I'll stick with her from now on! I bought a "grow with me" diaper from PartyFowl, are you familiar with her at all?

Thanks for the kind words EyeCandyQuilts! I need to make ChaCha her pink zebra diaper to match your gorgeous girl! I really love that fabric, it's so cute.
I'm sorry you had such a rotten experience with Avian Fashions, I've heard very similar things from a handful of my clients. Their baby diapers only cost about $0.40 each to make, probably less considering I bet they get a huge quantity discount on their fabric.

I got my first goose diaper from PartyFowl on etsy. She was very nice and worked with me to get the diaper I wanted, but she's also very busy and when I did have trouble with it I never got a response. They work really well if you are OK buying baby diapers to use as liners and your duck/goose/bird doesn't chew on the elastic. Baby diapers are too expensive for me to go through half a dozen or more diaper changes a day so I made my own design with a seamless poop pouch that won't leak and I can just use TP (bonus, the whole mess is flushable!)

Busheybird I love your duck house! How do you clean it? How often do you collect the eggs? Is it anchored in your pond? If my husband saw that he'd be dead set on making one for our duckies outside haha. We just built ChaCha her own little condo on the bottom level of our Ferret Nation cage (the bunnies live upstairs lol) I have to get pictures, it's super cute!

Sooo....do you take commissions? :D

I can't say I know what that means... lol
I do make and sell diapers! My number 1 priority is customer service. I offer easy ordering through etsy, but I prefer to work one on one with each client for a totally custom order.

Yes, that would be a commission, lol!

What's your etsy shop? I wonder if I already have you bookmarked...
