Show off your house ducks!

I have had my babies in a brooder type atmosphere because it got so cold here so fast so now that they're all most 5.5 weeks old do they still need the lamp and bulb? They sleep as far from it as possible. And they not panting or anything.

Nah, they're good to go lamp-less! That's your sign, when they start sleeping far away from it. Can we see some pictures of your babies? <3

I will definently post some pictures in the morning, I finally got them to go to sleep they are rapidly out growing theirbrooder box. I cant believe how big they are getting. I have ordered some diapers from SewSammi so I'm eager to give them more independence.

Ooooo I need to get me summa those! I keep forgetting to measure Wobs. He's pretty wiggly.

Oh it was a fight to measure them they kept acting like the soft measuring tape was a snake or turnin around and nipping our hands. I swear they were laughing at us the whole time. It reminded me of the time my grandmother asked for my son's measurements when he was 2 he thought it was a game and by the time I was done I was extremely frustrated. Lol. And this was with two ducklings so you should have an easier time with just one.

A question about poop: Do any of yours have funny little idiosyncrasies when it comes to...um...eliminating? Wobbles always backs up a step, lifts his wings, stretches his neck out and clacks his beak when he poops. He's done that since the day he hatched, it's both adorable and also kinda weird!

That would be adorable.!! No mine go sitting down or in water which is gross because then they want to play in it.

Yeah, I have no idea why he does it, but he does! It's like clockwork: Gotta poop, lift your wings over your head and make a funny face! Just imagine if everyone pooped like that...it'd make life more colorful, at the very least.

Ha, that's cute about the water, not the playing with it part. If all they have is a small water bowl do they all try to shove themselves into it all at once?

No they drink from a waterer they wait for the bath tub to unload an amazing amount of poo. But they still poo in their tub a lot too. They get into a tub of warm clear water when they let me know they want out in a murky brown.
