My ducks are just awaiting the opportunity to get inside as long as there's food there. They'll eat straight out of my hand! I can't get a pic because they're camera shy but they're a pair of mallards who are actually wild but tend to spend most of the day on my lawn. The second I step out the door I am immediately mobbed by them for food!

Just be careful, if they're wild you could be breaking the law by attempting to tame them and keep them as pets, and if you aren't, getting them accustomed to humans could be disastrous for their survival.

I agree - check with your state DEC. I get the NY postings because I'm a licensed game bird breeder - stuff you wouldn't expect is illegal. They just banned mute swans here. They are looking for game bird folks to feed existing birds until they die and to take the ones they relocate. I never expected that one! But the take home is that the laws change a lot, so it is always good to keep up on them!

Yeah...I mean, I get WHY the law exists, to stop poaching and prevent introducing non-native species (and diseases) into local habitats, but it just sucks that a few careless people ruin it for everyone else. I had a pet skunk as a child, and I ADORED her, but now in California, my home state, and here in Washington I cannot legally own one anymore. Boo.
