Show off your house ducks!

Yeah...I mean, I get WHY the law exists, to stop poaching and prevent introducing non-native species (and diseases) into local habitats, but it just sucks that a few careless people ruin it for everyone else. I had a pet skunk as a child, and I ADORED her, but now in California, my home state, and here in Washington I cannot legally own one anymore. Boo.

I have a small confession...if I could get a skunk I probably wouldn't have gotten a duck. But it's not like I'm complaining, it was the best decision I ever made! <3

I understand and based upon your posts, it's obvious you love the little guy and I can see why. I get so much enjoyment out of BYC from the cute pics and all. But another important element to this forum are all the neat people all over who post. Plus I like learning and seeing the passion folks have about their pet duckies.

The whole skunk argument is silly too. They are illegal here in NY, but not in neighboring Mass or PA. The reason: rabies. Skunks are less likely to get rabies than most domestic pets. Fearmongering caused silly legislation...

I have been out of the house much of the weekend because hubby was in the hospital. Brought him home this afternoon, and let the babies out to play. I'm now covered in a pile of ducklings who have been giving me so many little duck kisses I hate to see what my face looks like!!! (They are powerful now - their little nibble packs a punch - but is oh so cute!!!!!)

I set up drop cloths and towels for the babies so they can hang out with me in the family room. Of course my head, shoulders, and chest are not covered, so they are all piled there.....
They are HUGE now!

Peeking over the top of an 18" tall storage tub. There is a few inches of pine shavings on the bottom. The rest is all duck...

I looked in the mirror... One side of my face is covered in little duck hickies. They were very happy to see me, apparently!

A guy that works for my dad has a pet skunk. Her name is patricia. He has to give her prozac during the breeding season because she gets so aggressive! (For a female skunk to ovulate they have to be beaten up by the male, It makes sure only strong males pass on traits) They get aggressive during the breeding season due to this.
