Show off your house ducks!

Winter thoroughly enjoyed her first fish frenzy in the tub! I felt terrible for the little fishies though ): After she looked at me like 'momma that's all you got me?' Spoiled stinker! (;

Hi all!

I'm new to BYC and am loving reading all the info this site has. We've recently found a duckling on the side of the road that we've taken in and he's become part of the family. As he's getting older now my partner and I are debating about whether he should be a house pet or not. Is there anyone else on here that has just one duck kept inside? Do they get depressed or bored during the day?

Amy that's why I'm afraid to take my angels outside right now.. I'm afraid I'll turn into a dragon against anyone trying to harass my children. I want to wait til their adults before the public is involved to ruin them llol kids these days have absolutely no manners or respect.

Mommaducksweet, that's soo cute with dark wings protector awwwwww! Animals never cease to amaze me. That's great he figured out the pill bottle toy... I haven't gotten around to making many things for my babies.. For now their favorite game is push mamas buttons and eat her hair. ... And sleep all day and make a racket all night... You'd think they were cats by the way they act.

Sashay, I've found it helped me to put them in the bath, or leave them in the room with the door open, leave, hit record and eventually they start honkin up a storm trying to find me, then once they see you they get those happy sounds and sometimes sneak in a few good indicators... Or at a time you know they make sounds the most, just keep it on record, and trim the video afterwards... Ive had to do that numerous times too lol Though mine I think change it up on me on purpose... Llol good luck with figuring out the sexes, mine switched roles it seems. Though cupcake now has a louddd honky quack and doesn't shut up ever now that she knows how to do it.. And even though cupcake was the first to quack, his voice changed and got quieter and kinda like raspy hissyish frog like that keeps changing.. Though mostly peeps. At this rate I think I've give up on figuring out cupcake. He did start pecking cookies wings, so I sure hope that doesn't happen with your babies, though it definitely brings out cookies obnoxious quack.

WWWWWWWWWW OMGGGG WINTER!!!! Too stinkin cuteee!! I wish I could see a video of that button like face going after those little swimmies.. Ahhh ....I have this impending doom feeling that I'm going to be that duck lady, that trumps the cat lady.. If I could surround my self with every duck under the sun, I think my life would be made. ... Probably to the point I'd have too many to keep inside, that I'd sleep in the duck house.. :lau precious little devious angels. My poor hubby sure has patience and tolerance, thank goodness.

Yeah, that's how she is, too! Faces fine, hands, NOPE. I wish she could make the connection that my hands are connected to the head she seems to like so much. :p
I know. It is odd but they don't get it. Like lately I have been having to catch Jibby in the dark to put him in the cage because I don't want the birds out free ranging during the day. They are messy and prolific poopers and vandals and it is just not good. I have never ever harmed him but admittedly before he is put back in his cage I soak his little head and back with kisses. I wish he'd remember that I never have hurt him and that it is okay to be held. Ya right. They have strongly evolved to be afraid of big scary things for their survival.

You are awesome in your attitude and feelings about ducks. You totally get it!! You are my duck soul sister. I don't own any but am obsessed by their cuteness and all.

Look at huntress fisher duck of the cute little soft feminine face and small call duck body devour the little fishes.

LOL! Sadly, no...their parents were only 20 feet away and I didn't want to start anything, despite the fact they clearly don't know thing one about reining in their dumb tiny people-grubs. Grumble. I wish I had. If it happens again I don't care how many people stare at the crazy lady making mouth-noises, I'mma protect mah ducks!
Oh I do love you. dumb tiny people-grubs. I need to get off here before I am late for work.

I LOVE BYC I DO.

My little Lady Miso, she is 6 weeks old.
I have her indoors and take her out in the day for grass and walks. in fact there is very few places she doesn't go.
