Show off your house ducks!

Heh, as blunt as I am with my friends, out in public I always seem to clam up i these situations; I just awkwardly laugh whenever someone says something untoward. But naturally, I think of one heck of a zinger comeback, like, five minutes after the fact. Of course.

And yeah, it's like...I eat chicken, but I don't wanna eat my sister's easter eggers, you know? And I know some people eat horse meat and are fine with that, but I wouldn't say that to someone who breeds and rides 'em. As for me, I used to love eating duck. ....Used to.

I didn't know people in the US ate horse meat. I thought it was illegal, but it sounds like it's just not popular.

I don't think most people really mean any harm. I guess it's just uncommon enough in my area for people to keep ducks as pets and show birds that the idea of it is foreign to people who don't do it. I don't mind people talking about eating duck in general, and I don't even care when people order it at a restaurant when I'm there. I'm not at all opposed to it and have tried it several times at restaurants when someone else ordered it. I simply don't care for it, but I don't like dark chicken or turkey meat, either. I'm pretty sure I'll still be able to eat chicken once I (convince the hubby to let me) get chickens.

Oh, I have nothing against duck eaters, but when I'm standing right there and you tell me you wanna see Wobbles covered in orange sauce, I kinda have to fight the urge to claw your eyes out...

Try telling the average person how much you spent at the vet with your duck, chicken, turkey peafowl etc, they'll think you're nuts, lol.

Heck, even telling them how much I spend on one of the dogs. You'd think that would be more "norm" than a duck pet. I've been told that they don't understand why I waste the money. I think people who talk about smothering your bird in orange sauce are just not pet people. I was very close to a Filipino family growing up & they used to tease me about my dogs, calling them "Barbecue" when I'd bring them over but they just were not pet people. I just laughed because I knew they didn't get what my kids mean to me.
You can't fix ignorance sometimes.

Cats, dogs, horses, very easy to spend some big bucks at the vets with them.

My precious Tinkerbelle laying in the house yesterday, resting up from being beat up on by our drake.

Oh, poor little Tinkerbelle. She is absolutely adorable and innocent. I am happy you have the precious being safe and sound. Will you keep her separated from the drake forever like in a fenced a partition situation? Stupid hormones in males. I think nature overdid it.
