Show off your house ducks!

She was a foster duck I had for months that I was looking for a home for, Hun.She was very very sweet & very much handle-able but she needed an outside yard & pool set up that in my current house is not safe as my neighbor's dogs & strays tend to get in the yard or people jump in & destroy stuff. I love her but she needed a better home.
Dandilion River is my house Muscovy but has turned out to be an aggressive boy. It makes me very sad but he is snapping at my small dogs, cat & bit my roommate who has always handled him. He's very good with me but even still has tried on occasion to go after my face aggressively. This duck was raised as I raised my Daisy but I don't know if he's being this way just because it's his way or he's a drake or what...I don't know, but the others in my house are not happy with it & I'm at a loss. It makes me very sad that my second chance at having that house Muscovy love isn't turning out very well.

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry...yeah, males do tend to be aggressive. Wobbles still nips my toes sometimes! Bean's a sweetie, but she's not imprinted. so she still has a bit of a wild streak.

What are you going to do? Would you consider having him fixed?

You can do that???

Yes. Granted, only the most experienced of avian vets will consider it. It's much safer for males than females, obviously, but even so it's not guaranteed your vet will give that as an option. My vet's been specializing in barn fowl for 30 years, so for her it's a breeze.

Awww...Bean is a cuddler, not into the kink. Maybe Wobbs needs to wine & dine her a little, heavy on the wine...maybe look up some "ducky pr0n" on the world wide webbed...maybe quack dirty to her...

Hahahahaha! I'm dying over here! Scovy you quack me up!

That's cool! I didn't know that was an option! I've caponized roosters before, I wonder what's different about neutering a duck? I wouldn't stiffest anyone do it themselves! But I'm curious now! Did you ever assist with the procedure?

No, but I heard plenty about it! Since ducks have such, er...pronounced organs, the process is a bit different from caponization.

Caponizing reminds me of a cat neuter- it's a "snip snip pull" done before you know it kind of procedure. Now I have to try to find a duck neuter video! How interesting. I miss animal medicine!
