Well, let me know how it turns out, I might be knocking at your door!!

On another note, we have about 40 eggs going in two 'bators, all Maran so maybe......who knows? My luck so far has been pretty dismal....but we changed 'bator brands and are trying to follow everything to the letter. Fingers crossed!!

I am trying to figure out what would be good to breed them with to get cream or light brown eggs. I would prefer to have a chicken that wasn't as flighty, but would lay as much as the leghorns. I have three California White leghorn hens with a rooster, whose father was a RIR and mother a pure buff Naked Neck. I thought I might see what others have done, and may try to get a different rooster. I also have an Ancona rooster, a Dominique Rooster, a Cuckoo Maran Rooster, any sugesstions? If I used the Ancona rooster, I'd still get white eggs though!
