You are very fortunate to have those neighbors. It's good to hear that there are some non chicken raisers that still enjoy hearing roosters crow.When our first rooster had to go, we got in trouble by several of our neighbors. Saying that they missed hearing the rooster crow, it didn't matter what time of the night or day. It made them feel like they were in the county. Now we have a total of 7 roosters in our area, and no one complains about them.
Thet are supposed to be a heritage breed (meat and eggs). They have been really neglected until just a few years ago to the point of looking similar to a Leghorn, several of us are trying to get them back to the dual purpose status again. For now they are mostly show birds.
