Cochin? I don't know the correct sizzle frizzle or frazzled to go with the rest of their description. But oh my they are darlings. Love blue cochins, totally obsessed with blue chickens.I do not have any of the special feathered breeds yet but I maybe tempted.

Mine is a blue frizzle bantam cochin. I love all the blues too. I have a flock of lavender orpingtons also.

Yes, good thing he's a looker. I've got several people wanting him, (for dinner.) but I'm still wanting chicks from him, so he stays for now . He tried to attack me from his pen multiple times today, but all he got was chunks out of my garden boots. :b I keep telling him "good thing your pretty..." Lol

As I was reading this, I was thinking "I don't remember typing that"!! Could have said the exact same thing!

I agree with that, but I'm hoping Armand isn't a true fighter. I think he reacts when I get too close to the girls. He has only done it a few times, and as long as I talk to him, he's fine. But I'm definitely keeping an eye on him. Gorgeous genes or not!

(On a side note, I put 8 eggs that he fertilized in my bator last Saturday and they are all developing!)

Awesome... Ive always been interested in RJF.. wish I had one.

I breed gamefowl that look a lot like RJF, which is why I asked. Some people might make the assumptions based on looks alone.

He came from a woman's father that I work with. He gave me the roo and a hen. The hen I have to rehome because my barred rocks wanted to kill her.

darn that's a shame... introducing a new hen into an established flock is always a problem for me.

Introducing in free range setting tends to reduce conflict because one is able to run away.... But with a new hen (especially jungle fowl) you may never see here again, as she may jump the fence to safer territory.

I agree with that, but I'm hoping Armand isn't a true fighter.  I think he reacts when I get too close to the girls.  He has only done it a few times, and as long as I talk to him, he's fine.  But I'm definitely keeping an eye on him.  Gorgeous genes or not!

You presume correctly madam. I'm looking for a hillbilly game rooster to protect your flock. I don't think Armand should have to pull that kind of duty.

Here's a cloudy day shot of my roo.

I'm glad I got a roo now, because he really does look after the hens and he's not a bit mean towards me, even when I pick the hens up like I always have. He will cluck and look concerned, but he seems to understand I'm not out to harm them. I think he's just glad to be out of his small pen, with another roo and out with some girl chicks in about a 100 times the room!
