Show off your roosters

He had a magnificent comb, pure red, he seemed to be a real cared for from where he came from. However I don't like combs and wattles.

Good lord that's a lot of blood. Better wash that before the others get pecking at it. I agree that I love a dubbed look on a bird but yikes, the process... I'm a caponizer and looking at a freshly dubbed bird still makes me wince. But I'm raising my first batch of gamefowl chicks right now so I guess I better get used to it. I hate the look of a real gamebird with a big comb, looks so stupid.
I think he is pretty also! Nice colors.

He's trying to wiggle his way into your heart, so he's not soup:p   He is a hefty looking boy isn't he!

Definitely not soup, I like him too much. I named him that because he sleeps in a very big metal soup pot at night, when I move him from my bedroom to the downstairs bathroom so I can sleep past 6:30 without being awoken by what is without a doubt the ugliest crow I've ever had the displeasure of hearing. He's so stocky he cannot jump out of the pot and simply lays there until I retrieve him.

I keep my fowl seperate, especially after a dub I let them rest up alone when it scabs over I let them back out around the hens again. And have fun with them chicks! Game fowl are my favourite, they're more intelligent, proud, gentle birds. Plus their looks are just outspoken.

Quite right. Gamefowl are my favorite (group of) breeds, followed closely by a few of those fluffy Banty breeds. I'm excited for all these game babies I've got - so far it looks like a have one Wheaten stag, one Silver Wheaten pullet, one Silver Duckwing pullet, one Wheaten pullet, one Gold Duckwing pullet, and one Silver Duckwing pullet. And four more eggs in the bator. Hard to believe all these came just from my one Wheaten hen and Golden Duckwing cock. Not to mention I'm getting a 50/50 split of pea and straight combs. Based on what I've recieved I'm thinking I have 8 phenotypes and 12 genotypes possible from this cross alone... now if I could just get those legs to show. The daddy cock has these bright willow legs, and mom has slate, but all of the offspring are yellow or yellowish willow. I don't know a lick of leg color genetics, but I'm hoping the yellowish willows will darken up to their daddy's color as they grow.

I didn't know I was so into American games until now... I've always pegged myself as an Oriental fan. Apparently I like both quite a bit and I just had to get hatching to find that out... I'm still a sucker for Orientals though. I have my Ga Noi pair caged off on their own now and am excited to produce a whole lot more of those. The cock is Blue Red and the hen Black so the chicks should be real pretty.

I am not a genetics expert... but I bred yellow leg cock over slate leg hens all last year... I got a good 50/50, half with yellow, half with dark green. Most of the yellow leg turned out to be Male.

American Games are my breed, but I have been really interested in orientals recently. but dont have any.... yet

Hmm. Maybe I will try one of the yellowish willow daughters back to the dad. I'd love to have more of that leg color, I've never really seen another bird with such a green shade of leg. Looks like faded moss...

I started out with Shamo and Ko Shamo games before getting my first pair of Americans. I've also had Thai and currently also have a pair of Ga Noi. Love the Shamo and Ga Noi, very thick heavy birds. The Kos are fun but not very hardy, they die easily. Hated my Thai but they may have been low quality, I know some people love Thai. The Shamo though are my favorite breed. So docile and friendly to people while looking so big and mean. Attitude like a firecracker. My Shamo hen Misha is broody right now and she will rip the back feathers off any bird who comes within 2' of her babies. Her mama was the same way before a coyote got her.
