Next spring my peas should start laying. What do nesting boxes look like? Are they on the ground or elevated? What are the dimensions? Does each hen need their own box or will they community clutch like guinea fowl?

Also the gentleman we bought from says he uses Cochin chickens to hatch. We have 2 good hens that go broody at the drop of a hat. When should we take the eggs to give to the Cochins? When do we give baby peas back to mom?

What are the dimensions? banana boxes is good ... but they prefer on the ground !
Does each hen need their own box or will they community clutch like guinea fowl? each hen her place ... for sure !
When should we take the eggs to give to the Cochins? never eggs older than 10 days.
When do we give baby peas back to mom? ... never, they will never accept them ... they are foreigners!

That is so cute. My white peahen also adopts baby chicks. I came out one night to close the coop and everyone had gone inside except for her. She stayed outside on the silkie chicks, keeping them warm until I corralled everyone into the coop. It was heart warming.

Have you been able to breed your white peacock for it to produce both female and male ?
