Show prep for Silkies and regular feathered chickens?

I just read something about washing silkies but not washing the regular feathered ones, but what about white birds? I have a Rhode island white I'm bringing and he has a bit of yellow staining in some areas. What soap is the best?

We use that purple sheep shampoo, just don't leave it on them or it will dye their feathers. We washed them about 2 weeks before

I've never bought it for that very reason. It can turn the hide on a lamb fluorescent colors.

That will work. I don't know what brand mine was, stopped showing lambs long before I was finished with poultry in 4h

Last year at a show everyone was spaying show sheen on their birds. What do you say about this?

We were not supposed to. That was just for the large animal kids.

But my birds were healthy and shiny enough they didn't need to have it

That's what I thought. Literally everyone was doing it. All the aisles smelled like the stuff.

Could it be considered faking?

Probably not since it's accepted to do basically the same stuff to their legs and combs. We weren't supposed to because they could breathe it in
