Depends on what your goals are. He seems like a good rooster, it’s sad that someone dumped him.

I got a buff it looks like ….from him and a paint silky hen …… I’m waiting for one more to hatch. I’m just learning about genetics and love reading all the information on here and everyone is so helpful ! My silky must have buff in its genes correct? For this to happen? I really want to make a porcelain silky…… from reading I think if I got this one here and bread it to a blue silky It should make a porcelain silky? I dono just wondering here is this new babies momma (sprinkles)

I have a bantam hen I purchased as an adult who’s a silkie mix. She’s got black skin, feathered feet + the crest, but lacks silkied feathers and an extra toe.
She’s been broody for a few weeks now, so I don’t have many good recent photos, but here’s an old full-body of her

From what I have read in here if u breed her back to a silky her babies should be silky feathered ; ) correct me if I am wrong tho…… that’s what I plan to do with mine go back to silky

So we added our three week later silky mixes we hatched inside to our broody and her 4 yest! It went so well can’t believe it ! Check it out …. They all slept together lastnight n are happily integrated with mama and her other 4 babies! They are all from father fly by night and mama hens sprinkles and kiwi who is pictured as mama…. oh wait the two buffs are pure silky From the sweet chicken homestead they came out all different colors
