Show you EE's!

Aww thanks Ester is my favorite one. I went a little crazy last week and brought home 11 Ameraucana's, 5 Black copper Marans, and one Splash Maran. Ester was suppose to be an Ameraucana but turned out to be a great looking EE. This year I bought from local stock. 3 diffrent breeders. My goal is too mix the splash maran roo with my EE's and my black copper marans. should make blue offspring that carry blue green egg gene. Hoping for an olive egger! Now we are in a mad dash to get the new coop built in 2 weeks

Well, I think out of the 11 ameraucana's I have 3 pullets. That's my luck! and 3 out of 5 black copper murans are pullets. Better odds.

So out of 19 chickens only 8 girls. I guess I'll get rid of a bunch of boys. What do you think? Do they look like a bunch of roos to you

Looks like I'll have to get me some more babies! in 2 weeks

Well I did it again! I picked up 10 more babies. Amerauracan I'm thinking more EE's. It is very hard to tell. But they are much prettier than my other ones. And the colors are outstanding. Look at this red baby! Also got a yellow one in the bunch. Regardless I took them they are about 5 days younger than my oldest ones. Some guy had them then changed his mind about wanting them. He put them outside at 2 weeks old and they are wild compared to mine. I got them home and they all huddled under the lamp. But it didn't take long for them to figure out the cricket dance. If you have never dumped live crickets in with 2-3 week old babies it is funny. The kids collect inch worms from the trees and bring them to the chicks they fight over them. I bet in a week they will be friendly. Best place to get crickets cheap is the bait shop! Don't go to a pet store. I did that the first time .15 per cricket is insane. I bought 200 for 7.50 last night dusted them with calcium and it was great fun for about an hour

Yes I'm bribing my chicks! But I want chickens that will come to me when I call not run from me. I bribe the adults with hauled sunflower seeds and left over scrambled eggs.

One big happy family! 26 chicks in all. My coop is big enough for 30 But, I'm only keeping 2 rooster. So I will end up with less about 15. Lots of cockrels in there.

This is Buster, he is my non-bearded EE roo. He is a cross between a Lavender Ameraucana hen and an EE rooster. He is a little over a year old. I am breeding him to a SLW hen so that I will get chickens with bright lacing that lay colored eggs!

This is my 10 week old hen, Henrietta (pictured on right). She's not laying yet, so no clue what her eggs will look like.

Pictured on left is my 1 year old human roo. We named him Max.
